When looking to purchase hood & cowl lacing I've found it with and without an internal wire. I saved what was left of the lacing when I started the restoration and it looks like the radiator lacing didn't have an internal wire and was riveted in place and the cowl lacing had an internal wire but unsure of how it was held in place. Curious as to what was originally used and how it was held in place, so that I can be as close to origianl as possible

The lacing on the radiator shell did not have an internal wire and it was held in place by split rivets. The cowl lacing did have an internal wire and it was held in place by the internal wire and a "J" screw on each corner of the cowl. The wire was also woven into the small holes at the top of the cowl and the lacing was also held in place by a small nail on each side of the cowl at the bottom.

Dave, If you go to the Filling Station home page and click on the Tech Articles near the bottom, it will take you to a page that has a link to a very good article about installing hood lacing on a '29-'30. Hope this helps.

As well the lacing kit from FS (with the wire) I bought came with full instructions for the cowl installation. Hope you have the 2 "J hooks" for the corners, but if not, FS has them.
