Hello,
I just purchased a couple of the generator and starter Delco Remy metal tags and was wondering, should the blanks for "model" and "serial" number be stamped? If so, does anyone know the correct generator and starter model numbers for a 1932 Special Sedan? Is the serial number tied back to any number on the car, or is it a random number assinged just to the generator or starter?
Thanks for the help, Thomas

The model number for the generator is 943 J and the model number for starter is 714 L. Both the starter and generator tags should be a double bar....that is to say that the area for the model number and the area for the serial number are two separate blanks, instead of all one blank. Regarding the serial numbers, they were random numbers. You might want to use your birth date for a serial number. Example: 092245

Hey Brucie! Wrong again! That is not my birthday. I picked a birthday at random so that no one would know what the mutt's real birthday is. Sorry to disappoint you! By the way, I already had my birthday for this year.

Actually the serial numbers were sequential numbers assigned when the generators and starters were originally built by Delco. I don't believe that anyone has the documentation on the date versus serial number nor has taken the time to try to create a list or them.
