The firing order is 153624, and the number one cylinder is in the front of the engine by the water pump. The number one spark plug wire on the distributor cap is at the 5:30 position on the cap.

To time the engine have number one cylinder on compression and the timing mark lined up with the pointer. Install the distributor and when in place the rotor should be pointing to the number one tower on the distributor cap. When the engine is running you can fine tune the timing with a timing light.
