Are there any methods of repairing the door handles? The one on my driver side door just spins on the shaft that goes into the door itself.

This works if you haven't stripped it too bad.

Take the handle off. Wrap aluminum foil around the shaft. Slip the handle back on.

This allowed me to go 3 or 4 extra years in the late 70's... until I could afford to buy new handles. idea

If the repair doesn't work you can buy new handles from the Filling Station.

I'm not sure I understand the repair. I slip the aluminum foil between the handle and the shaft?

Yes this will fill some space don't add to much at the end of shaft.May make it tuff to get clip on.I think I would make a round piece like a straw. Then flare the end going on shaft then push handle on?

I guess I am getting confused. Does the shaft come out of the handle? If so, how?

Maybe were talking about differnt handles? I am in reference to the exterior door handle, rather then the interior handle, which i know comes off with a clip.

If you find that you can't repair the handle Verdone's in PA makes polished stainless steel duplicates that were made from molds of the original. I bought a rumble seat handle from them when the original handle broke. They can be reached at (717) 949-3341 Looks like chrome but much more durable than the original plated pot metal.
