Could someone please tell me what supports the front floorboard (from the tool tray to the toeboard) on a 1930. Thanks!

Thanks JYD ... I see the main sills, but no wood flanges. Do you know when I can find a picture of what they look like?

The flanges are part of the wood main sills, they are not separate wood pieces. Is your wood original, or did you use a new wood kit or did you make your own wood?

I have never seen anything like that. The picture sure looks like it could be original wood except that the sills should be 1 3/4" thick with a ledge for the floor board. What is the body style?

This is a 4 door sedan. The passenger side looks just like the drivers side. The sill in the picture measures about 1 inch thick.

I haven't seen anything like that either! (darn.....there I go agreeing with Chip The Dip again.......what's wrong with this picture?)  Anyway, in the past couple of hours I have checked out two 1930 Fisher bodies and two 1932 Fisher bodies and they all have the flange for the floor board as part of the wood main sill. Your wood sills appear to be too thin, so possibly they have been replaced or modified at one time. Are you planning on replacing the wood in your vehicle?

What I don't understand is without the 1 3/4" thick main sill how does the body fit on the frame? Are there 3/4" wood blocks at each body bolt? How do the rocker panels (metal under the doors) attach? It sure looks like a 3/4" piece laminated on top is missing but then the cross braces would not line up. Also looks like a gap at the top of the metal door post brace which also is troubling.

Thanks for the help guys. There is obviously something wrong here. I've taken a good long look at the sills and I guess there is a possibility they're not original (duh) ... They do appear age appropriate, so I never questioned whether they suppose to be there or not. As it stands now, I guess it's time for a little "creative engineering" ... I'm determined to have her cruising down the road before the summer is over ... I'm getting close! Thanks again!! :)

Glad to help out! If you figure out how the rocker panels are attached to the main sills since the main sills are to thin please let us know. Good luck with your project.

JYD, When I got the car it had the toe board, but it wasn't attached, it was just sitting in place. There was no floor from the tool tray forward. Here's a couple more pics.

Those do not look like original factory wood parts. They were probably swapped out years ago, and have had time to "age" to the point that they look authentic. They do not look like any factory-made '30 Sill that I have ever seen. Bill/KCWOOD
All the best, Bill
