I need to replace the rubber hose that goes between the gas filler pipe and the gas tank. Does anyone know what size the hose is? I don't want to take it apart without having stuff to put it back together. Thanks Don

Don, I just happen to have mine off. It measures 3 1/8 long by 2 7/16 wide (outside) X 2 to 2 1/8 inside. I expect the actual new measurement would be 3 X 2 3/8. My car is a 1939 Master Deluxe Town Sedan (JA). Hope this helps. Bob

5/16 inside diameter? Isn't that awfully small for the gas filler hose that attaches to the gas filler neck?

That may be the size of the tank vent line that runs beside the filler hose. Look at that measurement again for the filler hose.
I got one from a marine dealer that installs fuel tanks in boats.

Should I try and order it from one of the suppliers? I was thinking it was a straight piece of hose, my '50 just used a straight hose. Thanks Don

Hi Don, I just went through this last spring on my 37MD. Why don't you just take the filler neck and hose off and take the hose to either NAPA or Car Quest, for measurement. One of them will handle gas rated hose. Be prepared for a shock though, they sell the stuff by the inch, not foot!! Hope this helps.

Don,

I'd suggest you contact The Filling Station. Those guys are great with
advice and usually have most anything "we" need for our old gems. You
can find them at The Filling Station

Don,

I don't know if 38-48 is the same. Presumably somebody will chime in with an answer to that.

Or, you could just call one (or both) of those vendors and ask them.

Bill.

Update: NAPA auto parts, #1035 3.25" piece. $4.15 worked great and looks perfect.

It never ceases to amaze me how much stuff can be found right under our
noses. Like Napa, Schuck's/O'Reilly's, etc. etc. Sometimes even at
a Chevy dealership.

Always best to check the "easier" places, right under our nose, before
going hunting on ebay, craig's list and so on....

Just my 2 cents....

Bill.
