With the car at idle, and you on the passenger side of the car. (Make sure the hand brake is on) Watch the distributer as you reach across the engine and grab the throttle and race the engine quickly as you watch for movement of the distributor. If it moves, stop and go have a drink, if it don't grab a catalog of go on this site under parts wanted. What car did you have at the NW Meet?

Yes, the car was outstanding. I did not find one wood worm in the outside addition. Excellent job of installing the wood also. Now I remember you. We spoke at least two times. Wish I had known you were the chef-chevy when we were talking. Your car was a heart stopper when it was projected on the big screen. If the distributor did not move, remove the vacuum unit and place the pipe that went to the engine in your mouth and suck hard. If it doesn't move you are in the market for a new one or have yours rebuilt.

I think the sponsoring club announced at the banquet that they will not offer judging at the Minnie meet. Next chance in the NW will be 2012.

Bruce's 48 is indeed one of the best looking cars in the NW. That was demonstrated at the recent NW Meet in Silverdale, WA where it was voted "Best 40's" in the People's Choice balloting. The owner's a good guy also.....

Well at least we're patting each other on the back; instead of breaking our arms patting ourselves on the back!!!
I was pretty thrilled to win "Gentlemen's Choice" at the NW Meet. Thnx for mentioning it, Bruce.
The red '51 wagon is pretty dang neat. No thanks to me. Everybody knows I didn't build it. My hat's definitely off to the guy in Pasco, WA who did. Suffice to say I'm really happy that I got it after four years of keeping in the contact with the guy.
I'll be thinking about your interior all winter. Maybe the wagon will have air in it by next summer. Twould be nice for Reno next August.
I hope you get that problem with your "nuts" figured out. It's bad when a guy is having problem with loose nuts. Especially after only 100 miles, or so.
Well, take care, Bruce....
Bill.

Bill I would hope you were talking about the nuts on the header flange....My other ones have a heck of alot more then a 100 miles on them and are still pretty snug I changed the gasket to the manifold to day and with the thinner one I was able to get 2 nuts on each side so should not loose them again? At least less chance anyway I also timed the 48 and i feel I have regained the power I was missing.I also changed the coil and between the timing and coil the car is running alot cooler..I need a 50 mile spin to test everything and am hoping for good results
When I was timing the car I was getting more then 1 line on the flywheel, why would this be?isn't there only 1 ball on the flywheel??

Bruce,
I would think there'd only be one ball on the flywheel. BUT, I'm not positive about the answer to your flywheel ball question. Actually, it's interesting to me nobody has come up with a definite answer yet....
Bill.
PS: Good luck on the test drive. No "nice old car" driving here today. It's RAINING!!!!
