I painted my '48 Lake Como blue. The problem the painter had was too large metallic flakes. He had to mix it 4 times to satisfy me. '48 metallic paint has very fine metallic. Oxford Maroon is just like my blue paint. My '48 DuPont color manual has the formula for your maroon: 31oz medium maroon, 1/16oz of black, 1oz of metallic base. That equals 31 1/16 oz. Was your car originally maroon? If so, you should have an example of the original paint somewhere. Perhaps on the door posts, firewall or the vent in front of the windshield. Take these samples to a old time paint supplier and you should have success. I know a friend who bought a '41 parts car and car and cut a large piece out of the firewall so he could have a great sample of Ruby Maroon..
