I have seem luggage racks on '32 Chevys 2 different ways when they are not in use, some have the rack completely closed; others have the rack almost closed sort of like an upside down V, which way is correct?
Also can you tell me about the springs used on the rack? Length? Diameter? Are they SS or chrome or painted?
Can I get them at a hardware store or where? I can’t find seem to find them in the FS catalog, if they are there does anyone know the parts’ or page number; if not at FS anyone know where can I find them?
Are the strips on the top SS or chrome? Source for the rubber parts?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I know the springs are 1/2" dia but I have forgotten the length. I could not find the right length so I got longer ones and cut them and re bent the hook on the end. When the rack folds up it is in the "A" shape. At that point you can measure between the holes and find the length of the spring. I made mine slightly shorter (about 1/4") and that works great. Any good hardware store will have a selection of springs.

I found the right springs at ACE HARDWARE. They work perfect and look great on the trunk rack.
