HI, I'M LOOKING FOR THE CORRECT COLORS FOR THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION(AUTOMATIC). IT APPEARS THE ENGINE WAS BLACK? THE TRANSMISSION APPEARS TO BE BODY COLOR. ANY FEED BACK I WOULD APPRECIATE IT

The 1954 235 3/4 ton truck engine was gray. This is hte same gray that was used on all the 1929-1953 passenger car engines (and trucks) except the 1953 Power Glide which was blue..The Hydramatic automatic transmission would have been black

Are you sure on the transmission color? I have a hydra-matic in a 54 half ton and I did not see any hint of paint on it. The transmission body itself appeared to be natural cast finish.

That being said, it is the only evidence that I have. So there is nothing to say it is correct.

I have a few 1954 Chevrolet HYDRAMATIC 1/2 tons: a 1954 1/2 ton pickup, and a 1954 1/2 ton suburban, both with original HYDRAMATICS. (Anyone out there have a 1954 Chevy HYDRAMATIC Suburban?) Trannies are cast iron and were NOT painted on these two. They are mated to their original engines, and have presumably never been pulled out. By the way, not sure if this is where to ask, but anyone have an idea as where to get NOS / repop Hydramatic Tranny mounts? Thanks!

I agree with Greg & '54 Hydraburb ....Every original unit I have ever seen was raw & unpainted.....
Don't know where Chevy NUT came up with the black color but.... never seen an original unit that was painted black.

Maybe Chevy NUT can elaborate or post pictures of one of the black ones he is talkin' 'bout ?

I see by your photos, I'm guessing you are a dealer for GM parts ... is that correct?
