This posting by Junkyard Dog, in my opinion is worth repeating, especially for newbies like myself.

"the early parts books didn't have many illustrations (which would be extremely helpful) but the 1932 book does list every part in the car...including fasteners, rubber grommets and etc. When I worked on my car, I went through each category of the parts book, item by item and checked what was needed, especially fasteners and the like. For example, when I worked on my distributor, I checked each part listed in the parts book. That way I knew what was used and what wasn't. Kept a check list in a notebook and then checked each item off as it was reinstalled. I read the parts book page by page and item by item and I discovered many things that I didn't know that the car used. More illustrations would have been beneficial, but the parts listing helped a ton too."

With numerous postings having questions regarding whether a part was painted/plated/natural or other, where does this information come from? I have not begun to read my parts book as Junkyard Dog suggests doing, but will, upon beginning any mechanical task on my car. For now, it's my curiosity about where the finish of parts is located. The quote was regarding 1932 parts book, I have a 1931 Coach. Thanks

Throughout the parts book many of the various fasteners used have the type of finish listed.
