My '29 Chevy Sedan 194 engine has C86 spark plugs.

The ones I received from "The Filling Station" are "C87"

Is there an issue here? Or are they okay to use.

It is running on a 12-volt system.

Thanks in advance.

The C-86 plugs have been discontinued and they have been replaced by the C-87 plugs, which is a hotter plug. You should have no problem running on those plugs.

Your original generator is a Model 943-J, which is a 6 volt generator. You mentioned in your posting that your car has been converted to 12 volts but it sounds like you are still running on the 6 volt equipment. Actually, your 943-J generator will run fine on 12 volts. If you still have the original 714-L starter it will work fine on 12 volts as well, but don't run the starter more than about 10 seconds at a time.

You raise an interesting question when you say that a 6 volt generator works fine with a 12 volt battery. I always thought that a generator had to produce enough electrical pressure (voltage) to overcome the battery's pressure going the other way. In a 6 volt system, the generator had to produce +/- 8 volts to charge the battery. Can a 6 volt generator produce as much as 14 volts?
