Okay here is the story, I am currently working on a 1958 1/2 ton V-code truck. The engine an original 283 had never been opened. After a lot of research and mistakes. I understood that some available blue engine color was not correct for my year, and neither was the orange commonly used, for trucks.

I mean we made contact with the Peterson museum, GM and others, no one could tell what the mix was, what they could tell us was what not to use.

So the engine was INCORRECTLY painted the 6 cyl color. I am heart broken when a reputable vendor identified my problem. Now what? HELP.

The engine under a few areas had the original color but those are now gone.

On my screen the color looks to be dark blue. Don't know if it is because the picture is dark or what. Where did you get the paint? It also appears to be metallic?
The water pump pulley and oil filler tube should be black.
Temperature sending unit was not painted.

GMACAMARO,

I hate to be critical; but the color doesn't look too good. It seems too
dark and also appears to have a green or possibly turquoise "tint" to it.

I feel it should be lighter and have a more gray look.

I also wonder (as Gene questioned) if it's a "metallic" color?? At least
that's how it looks on my screen. And a metallic color would definitely
not be correct.

Sorry; but it doesn't look too good....

It's the "Filling Stations" FS-359. "Engine Gray Enamel"

Dark Gray is the description looks dark green to me too. That is actually the problem. Yes, I have been in touch with them and sent them a sample and they indicated it is a correct color. Just not for my engine for the 6 cylinders.

I believe if the picture would be taken in proper light the color would look very different.
