The more I read about engine numbers, the more confused I get.
This engine came out of a (supposedly) 1929 Chevy.
Could someone please give me as much information about it as possible?
Numbers cast in the block:

conv-3
836409
I 2 1
(chevy symbol) 27 XX

Serial number stamped on the raised face:
29 25375

Thanks!

I don't know about some of the numbers but I 2 1 indicates an engine that was built on the 9th month, second day and in 1931. Given a date of September 2, 1931, it would not be technically correct for your 29.

836409 is the casting number for a 1931 engine.
