Got a 3 port cyl,but can't figure out if it's off a Chev or Oldsmobile 4cyl.The casting part/no. doesn't match the no.in my 1928 Master Parts book. The casting part No. is:

# 910193

casting date code F 18 3(meaning it was cast on the 18th of
June 1923)

Anybody have an idea whether it's off a Chev or Olds?,thanks.

The later 1920 3 port heads were all made by the GM Saginaw Products Company (SPC) with the cloverleaf as the casting mark. The 910193 head is the 1923, improved, last production year, with replaceable valve guides. This head was used on 1923 Saginaw engines used in the Olds 23A and trucks, and for the Canadian built Walkervillle Canadian Products 'CP' engines that were used for the 1923 Chevrolets that were exported to Argentina.

Thanks very much for the information Ken.One thing I noticed about the head,it doesn't have the 2 small water holes that direct cooling water up and around No.4 exhaust port like the later 4cyl heads have.Would it be advisable to drill them(if the head is going to be used)to prevent any overheating problems?

Chevy last used it in the 22 FB model and used a 2 port version. From what I have been told Olds was the only one to use the 3 port. Olds used it on the model 43A and trucks till 23.

28 Chevy LO Capitol 1 ton, 28 National 2 dr coach, 71 Chevy Custom Camper 3/4 ton. Also 23 Oldsmobile Economy truck and a 24 Olds sport touring.
