If you are referring to the tool tray under the front seat mine does not have a cover. Is it supposed to ?

The storage tray under the front seat is actually permenantly attached and is part of the floor board and is used to keep your tool pouch, jack, crank handle, and tire pump.

ON THE 5 PASS COUPE THERE IS A METAL TOOL TRAY NAILED IN UNDER THE FRONT SEATS AND A WOOD COVER THAT GOES OVER THE TOOL BOX WITH OUT THE COVER THE SEAT REST WOULD NOT HAVE ANY THING TO HOLD THE SEATS UP AND THE REAR CARPET WOULD FALL IN THE TOOL BOX. THE COVER GOES FROM SILL TO SILL . IT IS NOT IN CHIPS CAR SO I CANT TELL IF IT IS IN TWO PIECES OR ONE . IT WOULD BE EASIER TO GET THE TOOLS OUT IF IT WAS IN TWO PIECES

All I can find is the 1931 Tool Pan Floor Board p/n 4005934 for Job. No. 31551 (Coach). Seems odd since the 1931 & '32 Coach, Landau Phaeton and Five Passenger Coupe all use the same under front seat Tool pan p/n 4004484.

The seat is held up by the rails that it slids on in my 5 pass. Mine was a 60K car and did not have a cover. Interesting !!

Dick: Is your car a 5-passenger coupe or a 5-window coupe?

A couple of days ago I moved the Landau Phaeton to a new location. I noticed single piece of plywood that sure looks like a tool tray cover. That is despite not being listed in the period parts book. It has one hole in the middle. Since it is under the rear seat springs and I have not checked to see if it fits over the tray, I can not yet be sure if its ID. Will check further when I relocate another car later this week.

That's what I thought. Since you have a five-window coupe your tool tray did not have a cover.

Here's some photos of a Five Passenger tool box with the step-down compartment. Also is a picture of the original plywood floor board.

I just went out and measured them. They are 1 1/4" in diameter.

Good luck!!

The one in my 1931 Landau Phaeton only has one finger hole. Apparently the body was built in Cleveland (no plant id on the Fisher Body Plate). Maybe it is a situation where different plants made the parts with slight differences. It sure would not be the only time it happened.

Is the tool box cover on a '32 5 passenger coupe split so you don't have to have both seats folded? Mine is-seems a better idea. Was there a rubber mat or carpet originally in the bottoms of the boxes? How about in the trunk?
Thanks for reopening this.
