My son is doing a Wayne 70 now and a Gasboy 390 for me. There are lots of vendors for parts and if you can do the sheetmetal stuff yourself you will save some money.

I restored a Tokeim 39 highboy. Really enjoyed it!! BUT, gas pumps lead to Oil Cans, which lead to oil can racks, which leads to signs, which leads to maps, which lead to map racks, which leads to island lights, which lead to wiper blade racks, which lead to banners, posters, ect, ect.I now have a mini museum of vintage GULF gas station items. It all started with an old gas pump. Its GREAT fun!!! Enjoy!

Yeah...my story is some what of Fleet47 except Signal gas. You'll have fun with the pump. It takes less time to restore than a car although you'll have to have your buddies over for them to enjoy it...Joe

Hey, you don't need to go to all the trouble of restoring a gas pump. It's a lot of trouble. You'll be straightening metal, looking for parts, and painting and spending more money, if you count your time, than it'll be worth. You may do enough cussin' to guarantee you'll need A/C in the hereafter.

Solution: If you visit any major swap meet (Charlotte, Carlisle or Hershey) you'll find a plethora of pumps already finished up to the "nines" and in beautiful condition. You can then pick out the one that you just gotta have.

Be sure and take the missus along. Then, when you have found the pump you like the very most-est, a "Polly," perhaps, and having asked the vendor the price, you can merely turn to the wife and ask, "Sweetheart, honey bunch, may I have it? Please." Of course, she will then reply, "Why sure, Big Guy Sweetie, it is just beautiful and it'll look right pretty sitting in the living room along side our curio cabinet. Having her along means you wont have to spend a fortune on chocolates and roses trying to regain love and affection or having to endure the never ending, "What did you buy that thing for?"

You see, most women like to be asked first before you do something relatively not smart (read stupid) like shelling out big bucks for a restored pump or jumping in and spending too much time away form them while trying to restore a piece of junk. You just gotta know how to handle them. They like pretty thing too. Besides diamonds.

See, its simple.
Good luck,
Charlie

BTW: You owe me big time for my keen insight and super advice. A simple, "Thanks, Charlie" will do.

I restored a 47 Tokheim pump a couple years ago. (Note Avatar) If you want to restore a pump you can find any part you want for the various pumps. The best part of my pump experience was that it had $.27 cents per gallon on the dial. Would you believe I now get all my gasoline for $.27 cents per gallon from this antique pump. Of course it is leaded gas but my '41 Special Deluxe Coupe cruise well on this fuel.
According to the pump dealers on various sites a fully restored pump is worth approximately $2000. to $2500. Some brands are considered more valuable than others. I preferred Texaco. I too have gas cans, gas bottles, signs, etc. It does kind of grow on you. Thats my story about gas pumps. JIM

Is this your company? I see you registered in Oregon and the company is based out of Portland. If it is and you're wanting to sell parts you can put an ad in the Swap Meet area.
