I recently bought a 1930 Chevy, and of course "some assembly required" ... My problem is that I can't figure out how the clutch/brake pedal assembly attaches. Does anyone happen to know where I can find a picture of the assembly, or if you have a car close by, I'll come look at it! :) Thanks!

Usually there is a picture of the pedals and their mounting in the Shop Manual I think there are some manuals on line do a search on the this site and/or llllook under the vendors list for reproduction manuals.
34 & 35 trucks are the greatest. 36 high cabs are OK too.

I believe that the brake and clutch pedals mount on shaft that is attached to the bell housing. Do you have the 1930 engine and bell housing in it????

Thanks chevy b, I'm assuming it has a 1930 engine and bell housing ... the engine looks like other pics of 30's I've seen. I've never seen another bell housing ... That's why I could really use a picture to compare what I have, to what I should have. You wouldn't happen to have one would you?

Yes 1929 and 30 use the same bell housing and I may have one if you need it.

I think you have a 1932 or 1933 bellhouse with free wheel gear box, This is pictures from my 1932 with free wheel box. ![[Linked Image from img146.imageshack.us]](http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/9358/29cluchbrems9189tp.jpg) Arvid :)

You have a serious problem. The clutch housing is '34 and up. Apparently '34 if I can read the casting date correctly. Looks like D 4 4 to me which would be April 4, 1934? Do you have a '34 engine as well?
The brake linkage pictured is '30-'31 so the mixture will not be compatible. Once the engine and other major components are ID'd then you will be able to determine what needs to be replaced or modified.

Hey Chipper thanks ... I was thinking serious problem too. It does say D44 ... I assume that's not a good thing. How do I tell what the engine is?

There will be numbers between the distributor and fuel pump. 6 digit raised casting number, letter & number casting date. Machined pad with stamped serial number. Also other raised numbers and letters IDing casting master and other production stuff.
Give us the numbers and we can tell what the block fit.
Also the '30 engine should have an updraft carb and the '32 and later downdraft. Other differences are the engine mount locations, head casting numbers and dates, manifold, clutch housing too. Some parts will interchange others not.

OK ... Between the fuel pump and distributor the raised numbers read: GM D44 837231-9 and the stamped numbers behind the fuel pump read 4250689 ... This isn't good, is it?

It is just fine if you have a '34 Master or truck. If you have a '30 Chevy then not too good as it is a replacement engine and apparently transmission too.

If I can find a '30 transmission and bellhousing, will it bolt up and work with this '34 engine, or do I need to replace both the engine and trans?

A '30 bellhousing and transmission will not bolt up on a '34 engine. :(
