I have kind of a torn up grille on my 1934 chevy 1/2 ton pickup and am looking to replace it. I am wondering if any of you know if there is a difference in the 34-36 grille dimensions and if a 1 1/2 ton will fit on a 1/2 ton? I took dimensions of a 34 1 1/2 ton and it looks identical. And then I bought a 1 1/2 ton 36 grille for the insert...it also looks the same other than the bow tie on the front. Any help would be appreciated. Ryan

According to Chevrolet, the '36 grille screen is different from the '34/'35. I do not know what that difference is. All trucks for '34 and '35 use the same screen.

Mike, I've heard that the grilles are a little different in size. Someone else will have to tell you IF they interchange with any passenger car or if they are germaine to the '36 trucks.
The main difference is in appearance. The '34 and '35 grills were painted black. The '36 was chrome with a black back- ground.

They do not interchange with any passenger car grille. A Chromed grille was available for the '34/'35 trucks as part of the deluxe trim package. A painted grille and shell were standard equipment.

Thanks Mike. The 36 truck and 34 truck grilles sure do look identical....save for the bow tie in the middle of the screen. I did read that the deluxe portion for all those years had the chrome as well. It also seems like the 34 1 1/2 ton and the 1/2 ton grilles are the same. Any more thoughts are very welcome. Ryan

One thing that I really appreciate about this forum, is know- legeable guys like Mike straightening out the schulebutt. Thanx, Mike!!! Now I have the straigth skinny on '34-'36 pickup grills.
I was told at one time that a '35 Master grill would fit a '36 pickup. After buying one I found out: WRONG! Luckily I was able to resale it and get my money back.
