I need to put my door check link rods back on my 38 coupe. Car was apart when I got it and just want to confirm the correct installation. Does the rubber biscuit use a flat washer in addition to the special size nut? How far do you run the nut onto the rod end? It looks like the rod has a "pinched" stop on the thread area. Is that correct, or are my threads damaged in the disassembly?
Thanks, Lou

I had to replace a couple of the links and they did not have the pinched threads so I used thread lock liquid on all of the check links. I assume each door would be different based on variables so the exact location of the link nut would be variable also. You need to adjust the location of the link so that the door opens fully but will not hit the end of the hinge at full open with the link rubber compressed. That would be considered your maximum open. I'm trying to remember if there was a nut or something on the door side of the rubber to keep it in place but that might be wrong.
