Does anyone know if this is the correct tag plate for a '32? Ya know, attached to the right side floor board in front of the seat.

Here's some photos of the correct '31 tag.

Is the tag for the '31 (attached to the right side floor board) available in reproduction? The wood was replaced in my '31 5 window coupe, and the tag is missing.

The same car serial number plate was used on the 34 & 35 trucks but mounted on the cowl. The tag was changed in the later 30's to read Chevrolet manufactured by Chevrolet Motor Company Division of General Motors Corporation when writing mention Model XXXXX Car Number XXXXXXXX.

34 & 35 trucks are the greatest. 36 high cabs are OK too.

I could use a few of the early ones like the 31's if somebody is reproducing them. Does anybody know of a good source???

Junkyard Dog, I contacted the Filling Station and was advised that they do not offer such a plate, but Nostalgic Reflections (ph 509-226-3522) does. What goes on the plate? I have a clear title and have already registered the car. The title bears the engine # 2879918, but I don't think that goes on this plate. The prior owner gave me a card with a body # S 10447, and that # also appears on the firewall data plate. It is 1931 5 window coupe Job # 31567.

Further info - #2879918 is stamped on my engine behind the fuel pump, and car is registered to that # in my state - Mississippi. Casting # is 8364 9 and date code is H 10 1, so the engine was built in August of 1931 right? But what goes on the plate on the floorboard? Since I sent my last message, I talked to Nostalgic Reflections, and they offered to research, give me a new title and data plate with matching number for $197.75. Wow!! Since I have a good title, it appears that all I need is a number plate for the floor, but I still need to know a source for that and what number should appear on it. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

The serial number that appears on the plate would consist of the factory number designation, the two series letters and the number of the run from that particular factory. Using part of your cowl tag information as an example, a car serial number would appear something like this:

3AE 23566

"3" is the factory, St. Louis
"AE" is the series (1931)
"23566" is the number of the run in the St. Louis factory for 1931. Since the car serial numbers started at 1,000, the 23566 number used in this example would mean that this particular car was the 22,566th car of the run in the St. Louis factory in 1931.

I have seen blank serial number plates on eBay so you might want to look there from time to time.

6wheel, there's another one just like it on eBay right now.

Thanks for all the help folks. I'll go to ebay and check it out. This web site is great. I started restoring cars 32 years ago, and it has never been this easy. I'm sure my '31 chevy will have a much more accurate restoration as a result of advice from the helpful folks on this web site.
