Hello,
I do not have the engine infront of me so I am replying based on what my engine rebuilder states:
1) On passenger side, there is an exposed 1-2 inch line that feeds the rocker shaft thru the metal side cover and,
2) on driver's side there is a 4 inch line exposed that goes from oil galley to presure relief valve.
Hope this makes some sense!
Thanks,
Ken

That line was used only on the late 1942 models and 1946 models.....and because it was installed before the engine was painted it should be painted.
The other years (1929-1953) had a left side line only and also was painted. So often you see it "bare" copper.
