I have finally obtained a sport coupe, which I have always wanted. Now I am trying to figure out what I have got. The paint and trim tag numbers can not be read. It appears someone drilled a hole in it. Any ideas? The car is a (3 AE 65827), Job # 31558, Body (S 4901). The engine has 336409 F31 18XX on the block. Does this mean June 1931? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The block was cast on June 3, 1931. It was normal to take 2-3 weeks before engine was installed in the vehicle. 65827 was about the middle of the June 1931 production run in the St Louis (3) assembly plant (start = 62042; end = 74872.
How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!

Assuming Chippers production run numbers are right on, and that production was reasonably steady through the whole month of June, then your car's birthday would have been on June 8th, at about 8:30pm! (unit number 3784 of 12830 produced gives a ratio of 0.29493 times 30 days = 8.85 days). Mark it on your calendar. Not sure if these plants ran 24/7 all month, but think they did. Cheers
