I know the early 37s had a scissor type support and that mid year they went to the telescoping type which is what my coupe has.
However one is locking in place at full lift and the other is just going along for the ride....
I could try and fix/replace the bad one...
But knowing in 38 they added exposed springs to help lift this heavy lid... I have to wonder if I can retrofit 38 supports to a 37 without much or any modification?

Replacing the broken spring is a fairly straight forward deal if you're careful. The springs are cheap. The procedure has been covered here in the past. If you decide to go that route there are several here who have done it and can help.
