My 1926 that I just got running runs rich even with the IVM screw turned all the way in. This was rebuilt by a VCCA rebuilder. Is there some thing that may have been missed? As you turn the screw out engine runs rough and the further out you turn it it finally stalls. Thanks Woodbutcher

Contact the member that rebuilt it for you. I'm sure he would like for you to have a good working carburator and will stand behind his work.

If it's like the 28 Carb, the normal setting is 1 to 1.5 turns back from fully screwed in. In is rich, out is lean.
Cheers

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great" I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

woodbutcher, Does your 26 use the vacuum fuel pump? If so you may be sucking extra fule through the vacuum tube directly into the intake manafold if the float is not shuting off the vacuum valve compleatly. I cleaned my carburetor fifteen times before I found the problem in the vacuum fuel pump. Hutch

I'd like to bring every one up to speed here. Maybe some can learn from my mistakes. 27 head after extesive work still had cracks and is now a boat anchor. Took a 28 head off a truck sitting in my yard, and installed that. Still running rich. Took carb apart several times. Finally found float was catching on float bowl. Made that adjustment. Also took top off of vacuum tank. One of the springs to close down vacuum had fallen off and was sittingin bottom of tank. Reassembled, and now all seems well. Will take tomorrow to my daughters senior dinner for parents. Theme is roaring 20,s. Thanks Woodbutcher
