Good afternoon,
I've been so busy and with all my G&D laying around I just realized I haven't received any of them from this year. I checked my credit card accounts and I was payed up in Feb.

I'm guessing by what I'm reading on here once I have my new G&D I'll be able to get into the members area of this website.

Does anyone know Who I should contact or a email address.

Thank You for your Help,
Luke

There are several dudes on this site that can verify your VCCA membership to see if you are current, and once they do you will be able to access the members only site.

Regarding the G&D, you can probably contact the editors of the G&D regarding the back issues that you have not received.

Do NOT contact the G&D Editor, she no longer has any responsibility in the areas mentioned.

All such inquiries should be directed to Membership Services, 708-455-VCCA, or "memberservices - at - vcca.org". They would be happy to help sort out membership status / payment, and handle any back issues of the G&D.

The database currently shows that you expired in January.

Good point Mr. ChevyGuru,

I have often wondered how many members are still approved for access to this site that have expired membership. So the G&D is not sent any more, they may still have access to member privileges on this site. Is this a concern?

I suspect Mr. Barker has already thought of this example, but I have not seen it addressed.

I will let Mr. Barker respond more intelligently - but I know this much following the recent Board meeting: we now have the capability of confirming anyone who comes into chat or the homepage - in REAL TIME - against the database. Soon, there will be no need for manually confirming membership status.

Most of Mr. Barker's current effots (and those of the good folks at Membership Services), are now being directed to continuing to build the capability to allow people surfing the internet to instantly join VCCA on this (homepage) site; and they are working on finalizing the ability to register and pay for VCCA events directly from one's computer (for example, for the 50th Anniversary Meet).

It is only a matter of time until our illustrious webmaster gets around to integrating the VCCA database with access to these pages. We have all the pieces now, it's only a matter of doing the labor part of the equation.

How are "Life Memberships" tracked?

A while ago an individual came into this web site seaking information. He admitted to not being a VCCA member. Then the subject of using the G & D for information was brought up. His remark was, "Oh, I have access to those, Grandpa was a life member and I've been getting his G & D's since he died.

I wonder how much of that goes on and for how long?

Mr.Pres.,

Never, never use the term "expired" on a forum which is made up of so many seniors, myself included. To say a subscription was valid through January is so much less intimidating. dance

You got me there! Laughing! You're right, we wouldn't want him to expire!

I should have said:

MrMack, this puzzles me. What method are we using to "verify" - when the real time database clearly shows that this gentleman's membership expired 4 months ago?

The database that we use show that he is a member of VCCA. It also shows that his data was updated on 2/16/2010 and that he paid $35.00, if that is incorrect the database needs to be corrected.

I believe that the information in the profile has been updated as of 2/16/10 and is "current". It also indicates that the member is not "active". That means that he is not a member in good standing (dues paid). He therefore should not have member privileges.

Reading this ongoing post ....

how many members out there are permitted to have information about the financial membership status of a individual? Is that not the job of the VCCA treasurer? I guess I'm needing clarification on this one.

No Bob, it is not the VCCA Treasurer's duty to verify a member's status as a VCCA current member in order to access the VCCA Members Forums on this site. This site is under the control of the VCCA Webmaster , Mr Billy Barker. I am sure that Billy answers directly to the VCCA BOD.
I am also of the opinion that this discussion should be in the VCCA Members only forum.

The only "financial status" that anyone gets to see is if the person in question is paid up current, or not.

MrMack made a simple honest mistake, because the way the database is set up, you only see the "last activity" date - which in this case was the date that they made the member in question "not active."

I agree, this should not properly be an "open to the public" conversation. But here we are, it just developed this way.

Thanks for the info to Chipper, Mr Mack and Mr Pres.

For the record, I was only replying to the comments of Chipper, Mr Pres. and Mr Mack.

UPDATE

I went back to this thread and verified that Luke (chevghost) paid his membership dues in July and is current thru July 2011. He has been verified as a VCCA member. He now has access to VCCA Member's only forums.
