just wanting to know the proper seal or gasket on a 235 chev distributor ?. or is there one ? . It appears that crankcase pressure will eventually push oil out from under the vacum advance assembly . Thanks , Gary

Looked in my gasket catalogue and it lists one for many engines but not the 235 so I'm guessing it is not used, however one of the Chevy experts here may know differently. Neil

Thanks Neil .... I'm thinking that since the distributor turns in the block every time the thottle changes ... if it has a seal or gasket , it must be of very light drag . Gary

There is no seal or gasket used. The distributor housing is designed with groves and flat spots to allow the oil to drain down.

unless the draft tube is completely blocked, there shouldn't be any crankcase pressure
