If you do a Chatter search you will find a lot of strings on this, from memory I remember Jack oil, motorcycle fork oil I think there were some others also.

From my notes this is what Chevgene had to say on the topic last year:

"You could use motor oil if you wished....Just that fork oil,jack oil,ATF and PS fluid are more equal in viscosity to shock fluid.
#30 motor oil would give you a nice firm ride - especially in cold weather....#90 gear oil makes the front end as stiff as a board (experiance)."

How do you replace the seals? Do the cups come off or do you have to feed them into the hole?

The article on rebuilding the 1930-32 shock absorbers appeared in the G&D in December of 1992 on pages 9 thru 13.

Just used the rebuilding kit, and the enclosed instructions (written by none other than JYD) to rebuild all 4 of my shocks...came out great!

Just finished my shocks. The kit from the Filling Station worked very well. Thanks for all the information.
