Harold the 1922 Touring car officially received his title from the Great State of Texas. As any of you who live in this great state will know, our DMV does its very best to keep untitled cars from getting a title. But, he did it! To celebrate his "plating", Kathy and I took him for a three mile drive tonight! His longest in probably 60 years. He made out like a champ. Only leaked a little oil, and did not complain too much about my gear shifting. I am slowly getting it figured out! He is one the road and titled today thanks to the great assistance I have received from the folks on this board.

So..to get him ready for some fun this spring...I have yet even more questions:

1. With the car running, what is the best way to check that the system is charging? My amp meter swings to the negative when I turn it on (PO mod), but I do not know if it is wired backward.

2. Can anyone show me a picture of how they mounted the license plate on an FB series car? I do not want to just bolt it to the mechanism that holds the spare on...it looks like I would have to take the plate off to unmount the tire.

3. Was a trunk mount of any kind available for these cars? Sure would come in handy!

Thanks
Dan

The RPMs must be advanced to check the charging. Observe the ammeter with the engine running and increase the speed. With the increase in speed the meter should show a +, if it does not your generator or cut-out must receive some attention.

Pass on Q=2

I am not aware of any approved trunks for this model Chevrolet.

Q-1 With the RPMs up a little check the voltage at the battery with a volt/ohm meter. You should read a little over 8 volts. If you have strong voltage at the battery and the amp meter shows discharge reverse the wires at the meter.
Q-2 I bolted the license plate to the spare tire carrier with wing nuts just in case I need to remove it to get to the spare tire. I attached the lic. plate bolts to the lic. plate holder with square nuts with the bolt threads sticking out, placed the lic. plate on the bolts and secured it with wing nuts.
Q-3 I don't think I would punch holes in the body just for a lic. plate holder
I know you are having a great time with "Harold". I bet there is a smile on his radiator every time you go out to start him up.

OK, so I checked, and I am only getting six volts at the battery. Pulled out the manual, and it said to check the circuit breaker. Well, the circuit breaker is a burnt mess. Anyone have a source for a used one or (heaven forbid) a new one? Wonder if I could hook up something else in the case? Any thoughts? Help?

Thanks

You could send your cutout to someone who rebuilds them.
