My 1938 Chevrolet radio box was worked on by a radioman who did some repairs to the volume control potentiometer. The housing of the potentiometer has male threads and it slides through a hole in the case and has a threaded nut to hold it in place. The volume control shaft has a female grooved slot for the male end of the cable to slide into. When the potentiometer was replaced I think the position was not placed in sync with how the cable is inserted. It looks like its 90 degrees off. I am having lots of problems trying to install the volume control cable and having enough slack to turn the radio on-off switch to the off position. Does anyone know the correct position of the volume potentiometer prior to soldering the wiring to it so the cable will work OK????? Thanks!
