I am trying to find out if a 1933 chevy is a master, or a standard the firewall number is 6CAD20448.

Also what would be the firewall numbers on a 1934 chev 2-dr master town sedan. I am trying to buy one, but there is no firewall plate, and no title, so a builders title in Kansas is going to be difficult - any suggestions.

Thanks!

This is a Master built February 1933 in Oakland. It could also be an Eagle as I don't know of the cut off date between the Eagle & the Master. It's not a standard unless that tag is not from that car. It should read 6CA020448..Joe

The Eagle was the first 3 months of 1933. It also corresponded with the introduction of the Standard.

Thanks for the information. Is there a place where these firewall numbers are decoded?, or do you have the information in your head?

I really need to find out about the 34 town sedan I mentioned.

Again thank you again for the information!!

Do you not have a tag for the 34 town sedan? The only thing that we could tell you with out the tag is it should read some thing like xDAxxxxx.

Assuming that you have seen the car, the Town Sedan has a
distinct style. It is Chevy's version of the Victoria. The
rear side windows are shorter than on a Coach. And the built
in trunk and the rear fenders meet flush. A very, very good looking car indeed!!!

Some say that the '34 Town Sedan is rare. There were some
49,000 of them produced. You and our fellow members be the
judge as to its rarity.

Thanks to all for the information. Yes the car has a bolt on "trunk" and the guy erfers to it as a "vicky".

I am trying to find out the different codes on the firewall plate:
1st number = plant location? 1= Michigan, 6 = Oakland etc,
2-3 letters = series? DA = Town sedan, CA = Master, EC = STD
4-5 numbers = month of manufacture?
6-9 sequential production number?

Is the above correct???

Thanks to all responders for your help. This will be my first early Chevy, I'm giving up building a 38 2-dr sedan for this one - I HOPE!

Hey KS Chevy,

You have a few things running together here. So the number above you listed would not be on the fire wall, it would be on the sill plate tag.

So numbers like this xDAxxxxxx would be on the sill plate tag which will have the Chevrolet bow-tie on it. So it I remember right the first number is the plant which the car was built in. The next two letters go like this:
BA = 32 pass
CA = 33 Master CC = 33 Standard
DA = 34 Master DC = 34 Standard
If you look in a parts book you will be able to find this information.

Then the next to numbers are the month the body was built, follow but the production number 3454 car built in that plant.

Now if you move to the cowl tag which will body by Fisher on it, you will find the following:

Style No: 34581 (34 = 1934; 581 = Town Sedan)
Body No: O 637 (O = Oakland; 637 = the 637th Town Sedan from O)
Trim No: 38
Paint No: 162 (162 = what color it was painted)

Guys, please correct me I might have switched something.
