Help crazy

The tranny on my '29 Coach is leaking "big time" out of where
the speedo cable screws on the U-joint housing! mad Does anybody know where I can get a replacement seal? I tried to
cobble up one, but it ain't working. Any help would be much appreciated. Unable to find the critter listed in a 29-34 Chevy reprinted parts manual. There was the remnant of one contained in the speedo cable housing end that screwed into the U-joint housing. Thank you

Don't think they had a seal originally. Check out this discussion from a few years back. My 30 Coupe leaks there also, and I haven't found a really good seal to stop it yet.

There never was a factory seal at that location, that's why it isn't listed in the parts book.

You can get a thick piece of felt and make a seal. Many dudes have tried that and it seems to work well. Also, we have talked about different types of homemade speedometer seals here previously so you might want to do a search on Chevy Chatter for some other ideas as well.

Good Luck!

this is what I used. seems to work pretty well. I have extras, PM me if interested.

the 1/2" thick felt goes in first and the nylon washer secures it in place
