All-

I've been reading posts on this site, as well as spending quite a bit of time on 1931chevrolet.com. Anyways, I'm just about to start a new project. It's a 1931 Chevrolet (Sport Roadster I think). Not sure how to tell the difference between a Sport Roadster and a Cabriolet.

The car actually belongs to my grandma...she inherited it from my great uncle(her brother) who apparently had it shipped to his home in Texas from somewhere in Europe in the early 1980s. I trailered it up to my house in the Chicago area 2 years ago and am finally in a position to start working on it. The car has been remarkably preserved, and the goal is to keep it original/as-is...just looking to get everything functioning mechanically.

I am going to be keeping track of the restoration at:
1931chevrolet.blogspot.com.

Thanks to Bill Barker's website, I've been able to learn quite a bit about the car.

So, it's good to be here and thanks in advance for the help that I'm sure I'll find here.

Thanks-

Kevin

Glad to see you here Kevin. This is the best place to get more information about your car -- even better than http://1931chevrolet.com HA!!! luv2

Just a friendly "bump"... we have over 800 pages of past technical articals saved in a database online. It is available to all members. Many of the articles relate to '31 era Chevs. You might consider joining the club for just ONE year and see what else is available for the 'ol stovebolts! I don't think you'll be sorry.

Hello Kevin.

A 1931 Cabriolet has different doors to a roadster, and different windscreen to a 1931 roadster.
The Cabriolet has taller doors with wind up windows, where as the roadster has side curtains.

The difference between a sports roadster and a standard roadster, a sports roadster has a rumble seat for passengers, where the standard roadster has a trunk lid.
The sports roadster had chromium cowl lamps and a radiator stone shield as well.

Cabriolet was $615
Sports roadster $495
Standard roadster $475

Hey Kevin,

If you working on a 31 roadster you need to know Ralph McEowen. Last time I talked with him he has built bodys for over 70 plus 31 roadster. He is in Greenville, OH. Send me your e-mail and I'll get you his phone number.
