I have found out that the paint code(#44)on the VIN tag of the 1940 Chevrolet I bought from Canada, represents the color Laurentian Green with striping in Gold. This fits with the green color that can be seen under some lifting black paint on the underside of the trunk. One mystery solved!

Way to go on decifering the paint code. Keep us posted on your progress with the 40 Chevy.

Would you be so kind as to tell us where you found the Canadian paint code number?

I found a long time 40 Chevy collector close to home, and purchased a grille from him. I mentioned the Canadian car and he said he had a Canadian color manual. The paint # of my car was in it. If someone else needs info, on Canadian paint, I can call him to see if he would find the info.

Hello johns40chevy: I have what I believe to be a good used 1940 Canadian Chevy hub cap. Any interest in it? Maybe you can verify that I have identified it correctly as 1940 Canadian.

ps. I was going to bring it to the swap meet at our Anniversary Meet in Flint, Michigan in July of 2011.

Joe, I apologize for not answering your message. I have beein so wrapped up in working on the Canadian 1940, that I have not spent time on the chat room. I will try to find out about the paint code for your 1934. John

Toolman, Please accept my apology for not answering. I left a message for Joe explaining why. Somehow this old Chevy keeps calling me! I really don't know about the Canadian hucaps, as the car did not have the correct ones on it. I would like to buy a used set to put on as drivers, but I know I won't make it to Michigan. I saw you had three exhaust rocker arms on your parts list. If you still have them, I would be interested. Maybe you could send a description of the hubcap when you have time. John
