Have a look at the website below. It's one of the largest collections of old Chevy photos I've seen:

Enjoy! carbana

Great collection of photos, Chip.

The 54 Sport Coupe (about picture #90) with the accessory front bumper guards and the hard-to-see VCCA decal on the driver-side wing window is mine.

The shot was taken about 1990 at Seattle International Raceway in a photo-shoot for class winners at a "Super Chevy Sunday" show.

Unfortunately, the color looks sort of washed out. It's much "red-der" than it looks in the picture.

The color is more like the other 54 hardtop which follows right after mine.

Anyway, puffing up my chest a bit. As if my shirts weren't too tight now....

Thnx Chip....

Oh wow, there is a photo of a 1916 490, owned by Earl Moore. Earle and I meet up most Tuesdays for cruise night here in Kanata. It is so cool to see a friends car on the web. Earl has about 6 different vintage cars and brings a different one each week.

It's not how fast you can go, but how good you look at 20 MPH.

Bill, please straighten me out (I need that a lot). The rear accessory bumper tips look like wrap-arounds (WA). Did they drop them for the front in favor of another bumper guard? I do not know and I've noticed others that way (bumper guards) and just want to know.

BTW: Those 54s are sharp cars and I'm sure yours is even more impressive in person. I bet you got her souped a little. Do you?

Thanks and best wishes,
Charlie

Charlie,

I finally found this post from March 23rd with your help in your PM.

The rear bumper tips (called "rear fender guards" in the 1954 Useful Chevrolet Accessories booklet) did not have a similar companion piece for the front. The front had, as you noticed on my car and have seen in pictures of other cars, an 'extra' pair of bumper guards. The accessories booklet called them "front fender guards." According to that booklet, they came in combination with a "grille guard safety bumper." Get this, for $28.50!!

As for my 54 being souped up; well, not so. It's a real VCCA type car. Bone stock. I've had a six cylinder Corvette exhaust manifold for years that I always intended to put on the car for dual pipes. I love duals on "our" old Chevy sixes; but my car is so stock, I just can't do it.

Thnx for your interest. Sorry it took so dang long to get you a reply....

Bill.
