The left stop light has the normal red lense but the right one is white plastic. Where does this come from?

Looks like it was either painted or oxidized from the sun.

The left tail light lens is glass. Glass was used from 1941-1947 and early 1948s'....late 1948's had Lucite (plastic) lenses and I have never seen on turn white but as mentioned it has been in the sun too long.

It could also be an aftermarket replacement made of plastic. I have noticed they sometimes lose their color more readily than the OEM lenses.

I believe that I have seen some 1948 Chevies with the plastic lenses that come close to looking that bad. Check the lens, it could be a Stimsonite ( original brand ) or it could be an aftermarket lens.
