The left stop light has the normal red lense but the right one is white plastic. Where does this come from? http://www.postwarchevrolet.gofreeserve.com/060609.html4th picture down...

The left tail light lens is glass. Glass was used from 1941-1947 and early 1948s'....late 1948's had Lucite (plastic) lenses and I have never seen on turn white but as mentioned it has been in the sun too long.

It could also be an aftermarket replacement made of plastic. I have noticed they sometimes lose their color more readily than the OEM lenses.

I believe that I have seen some 1948 Chevies with the plastic lenses that come close to looking that bad. Check the lens, it could be a Stimsonite ( original brand ) or it could be an aftermarket lens.
