I've recently acquired the body & some parts of a teens era car. It was sold to me as a 1914 Chevrolet, but I'm having trouble determining if it is a 490 or Baby Grand and I'm also unsure of the year. I plan to keep the body to make a hot rod (with no alterations to the body - I want to respect history while making the best use of what I have). I'm new here, so I don't know if I should post a bunch of pictures, so for now I'll just give a link to my picture site. I'm also looking for another door hinge, since I only have 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated! http://rosebudsgarage.shutterfly.com/225I work a lot of odd hours, so I may be slow to reply.

The front doors indicate a 490 as the Baby Grand doors are flat across the top and the 490 swoop up to meet the windshield. The windshield stanchion bases are also 490 as is the dash. Probably a 1919 or 1920.

You have some nice tin from a 1918 490. Would be a shame to make it into anything but a stock restoration.

I think it would be a 490, but not 1916, as that model has only 3 doors, and those wheels are with non-demountable rims. If the data ID plate has stamped a number it also cannot be a 1916. Check that number and the one on the edge of the flywheel rim and write them here for identification. You also can find the engine number which will help to identify the car. If the fenders are smoothly curved into the running board (and not a distict angle) the oldest it would be is 1918.

He does not show a driveline and I am led to believe he does not have one. Excellent set of top holders for the 1918.

Sorry, I should have made it clearer - all I have is what you see in the pictures and two pieces of wood that I take to be the back of the original dash & the upper part of the firewall. No frame, driveline, fenders, etc.
So all of the parts I have are for the top? I probably will sell those.
I've thought of selling everything to make a little money, but I'll probably never have a chance to own something like this again.
Does anyone have a door hinge they'd like to sell?
Thanks for the replies!

Most likely I will sell the parts I don't need & keep the body for a hot rod. I'll keep the body stock & not chop it all up.
We can fab the hinge, I'm just hoping to find a stock one so I don't have to mess with it.
Thanks
