I have taken the fuel pump off my '52 and replaced it with an aftermarket.
My question is: How do I get the glass bowl off the old fuel pump? I have unscrewed the wheel, and tilted the metal bracket that went over the bowl. Now the problem: I can't get the bowl off the pump. There does not appear to be anything holding it in place. Any suggestions on how to separate the two without breaking the bowl?

It is just stuck in place. Hope the last person did not use a gasket sealer. A few taps with a rubber hammer should do it.

Glass bowl came off with a couple whacks. New pump is working like a charm. Been out a couple times here in Nova Scotia, Canada. Getting lots of looks, especially from teenagers/young adults. They love the look and style.

Next question: Are these relatively easy to re-build if you don't have the experience, or should it be sent off to get professionally done?

Considering the age of the pot metal casting and other problems that can arise I would just purcahse a fresh new glass bowl pump and avoid the oil leaks at the pivot arm shaft and general decay of the casting. Also if its not a genuine Chevrolet brand of pump the kit may not "work".
