I have acquired an extra '32 motor (194) with 2 transmissions, 1 attached to the motor and 1 separate.

What is the best way to prepare these for some (maybe) long term storage?

Thanks

No ideas????????

1 of the tranny looks like it has been sitting for many years in a garage or shop. The motor with tranny was recently removed.

Should I remove parts from the motor like the carb and store alone or leave on motor, remove plugs and MMO?

I should be able to put it somewhere where I can turn the motor over with the crank every now and then, unless I lose more of my memory.

Do a search on "winter storage" and you will get some hints from other strings on the topic. Hope this helps.

Gator: If your engine and transmissions are going to be kept inside, I would leave everything on the engine, remove the spark plugs from the engine and fill the cylinders with oil, and then reinstall the spark plugs. Remove the valve cover and pour some oil on the rocker arms and valve stems. Also, I would tape off the top of the carburetor to keep bugs and etc. out of the air horn.

On the transmissions, just make sure that they are full of oil and leave as is. With inside storage these items will be just fine.

Hey Gator......I failed to mention in my last posting that if you are going to leave the engine and transmissions inside, and if you are going to cover them up, make sure that they are in an area where there is no moisture. If there is some moisture, leave the items uncovered so that they can breathe to prevent rust.
