There was no 4 door convertible ever made in the USA. Either it is not a GM body or it is altered.

The KA 2103 indicates it was a Fleetmaster 4 door when it rolled out of the factory.

We're going to have to see a picture of this one, though... and do you have any history on the car??

Possibly someone in India has made a convertible out of a 4 door sedan? Obviously, you will need to post a picture for us to see of this car.

Dale, That designation "XTD" indicates that the vehicle was assembled in one of the overseas Chevrolet (or GM) assembly plants. There are three people in the VCCA that have studied foreign assembly. All three occasionally are on this site. If one of them sees this thread they likely can identify the plant and provide more information.
It is possible that the 4 door convertible was a factory produced vehicle or one that had a custom body installed on a Chevrolet provided chassis. Funeral cars, limos are examples.

The car in question was first bought by an earstwhile Maharaja(Ruler) of Bikaner State in INDIA way back in 1946. It is said that he wanted the facility of shooting while sitting in the codriver's seat and such the divided windscreens were individually collapsable to enable the His Highness to hunt while sitting or standing in this convertible Chevrolet. In fact a large no. of rulers of various states in India were offered the facility of custom built cars. Unable to attach photos here, pl let me hv ur email , will send them to you separately. Ravi, does your '46 Fleetmaster have suicide doors? I'm curious if its a Holden-bodied car built for export. There was a 1939 Chevrolet 4 door convertible that was built for the export market that came up for sale recently. It was also built for export to India and was owned by Nawab fo Junagadh, Mohammad Mahabat Khanji III. Its a beautful car. Yours sounds like its truly a unique car and we'd love to see some pictures of it! What color was it originally? You can find paint chips for the 1946 models, which did offer two-tone color combinations. http://www.oldcarmanualproject.com/manuals/Chevy/46-54PaintCodes/chevypaint46.jpgHope this helps, and welcome to the VCCA chat site!
