Reading the thread about the body color of the 38 Chev's and the corresponding color stripe on the body band, grill and other trim components, and seeing the great pictures that Tiny posted of the door handle on his 38 coupe, of the remnants of the red stripe that was on the center groove of the door handles of his car. My 38 Master business coupe is a survivor and is 98% original..My door handles have about 90% of that RED paint left in that center groove of the door & trunk handles, the grill, hood side trim and the groove's in the side of the hood ornament. The original color of my 38(and still is) Mayland Black..like Tiny's, Hence the factory corresponding color trim is vermilion(RED). My Question..I guess...is say a car was painted another color..like say...Brookwood Beige? then the Chevrolet corresponding color would be Kildare Green!(that would be the body band stripe)...In that case would the groves in the door handles, and the rest of the accents be Kildare Green also...instead of Red??? I never seen that. Any thoughts?????
I was only wrong one time in my life so far. But that time I was right, and only thought I was wrong....ED

Assuming the Engineering Features manual was faithfully reproduced, the handles had red (vermillion) stripes, just like the grill always would have had red stripes and the hood trim would have always had red stripes.

Thats correct. The trim stripes would always be red. The body and wheel stripe would "harmonize" with the body color.

How about the other trim, specifically the "special Deluxe" area on th hood side trim (satin black?) The "chevrolet" area on the nose (satin Black?) and the "chevrolet" on the trunk trim. I've got an oldtimer telling me that he's sure the special deluxe area was red, and the chevrolet area on the nose was body color....Any thoughts?? BTW, car in question is a 1941 4 door Fleetline.

Body color, body color and black, respectively.
