I & I Reproductions has a 31 tail light assembly w/the bow tie stamped on the rim. My owners manual(for a 29 LQ) shows the bow tie on the lens. Does anyone know which one, if either, is correct for a 29-31? Is anyone familiar w/their quality.

Thanks

The 1931 tail light is different than the 1929. The Chevrolet bow tie is on the celluloid lens for 1929. Quality? For the most part, the "quality" from I&I is poor at best.

Confusing, but by cabboy's discription the 912109 photo is the closet to the 29 w/the exception of the bowtie on the bottom lens. It also appears that the rim is aluminum. I'm begining to understand why my truck did not have a carb (125S) and a tail light.

Thanks guys.

Just to confuse you some more. None of the lenses shown are correct for your '29. The correct lens is celluloid (plastic) not glass. The 912109 photo is of a glass lens and does not have the stop in the top section. It is definitely not correct.

If you can envision a plastic lens like 358675 but with a top more like 819611 you will have it pictured. I don't have a picture or illustration that I have found of the correct lens. Hope I cleared things up for you now.

Ya, that whole thread is totally confusing to someone who is not familar with the correct lenses for 1929 and 1930. The lens featured in the first photo of that thread is the correct lens for 1930, which is a one year only lens. However, the 1929 lens is identical to that one, except that instead of a "dome" on the top of the lens, the word "Stop" appears instead.

By the way, the photos of the other two lenses shown in Raymondo's posting are glass aftermarket lenses and they are both incorrect.

So on the 29 the bottom portion of the lens would be smooth (no diamond reflector pattern)and have the double dome w/the bowtie over it and the top would be smooth (no vertical flutes) w/stop. Would 'stop' be light visable only and not like the bowtie?

The bottom of the celluloid lens for 1929 would be identical to the bottom of the celluloid lens for 1930. The top of the celluloid lens for 1929 would have vertical flutes and the word "Stop" would be light visible only.
