Thanks Junkyard. I found a 1930 and was hoping that some of it would work.Do you know, will the frame work for the 29 as well?

Will the trunk lid from a 29 & 30 coupe fit on a '31 coupe. I think I need at least the skin.

Ok, I am in learning mode here. When you say " 1931 Coupe" do you refer to the Job No. 31567 5W Trunk version AND the Job No. 31557 Standard Coupe? Or just one or the other? THEN, when you refer to notched or un-notched, what ,specifically, is the thing that is getting notched or not. By extension, does this apply to the '32 Coupes? Thanks, Bill/KC Wood

Bill,
Mine is a '31 chev 5 window coupe, Detroit, Mich., Job #31567, Body #J 434, Trim #1, Paint #69, and is a trunk type, not the rumble seat.

We are referring to the 31557 and 31567 coupe models with the trunk. On the trunk lid with the exposed hinges the top corners of the trunk lid are notched.

Common wisdom (what ever that is) considers the lit with exposed hinges to be the early model that was replaced with the hidden hinge trunk lid. My observation is that the quarter windows (on the 5 window) and rear window on both couples had upholstery instead of a metal molding on the inside if they also had the exposed hinged trunk. That also is considered to be the early models.

Thanks Guys,
As this relates to the wood frame I would guess that it would affect both the Deck Upper Crossbar and the Deck Lid Upper Crossbar, in that the hinge mortises would be different. In '32 , did they use the hidden hinge version only? Thanks again, I love learning these details. Bill/ KC Wood

Yes, in 1932 the trunk lid was not notched.
