I was adjusting my headlights today using the headlight adjustment chart in the shop manual and could not find any indication whether the adjustment is made with the lights on hi beam or low beam. I made the adjustment using the hi beam. Is this correct?

While making the adjustment the high beam filament on both lights burnt out. Anybody have any idea why this happened? I replaced the bulbs and completed the adjustment.

#1 - Adjust with high beam.
#2 - You lost the ground when you lossened the adjustment bolt.
#3 - 1937 was the last year the the entire lamp was "aimed" during the adjustment. For 1938 and up just the reflector was adjusted.
#4 - God was trying to tell you something.

Chevgene thanks for the info. I don't think I lost the ground because the bulbs worked when I put them back on low beam. Both of the high beam filaments were burnt out and they both went out at the same time. Why?????

Yes it was running. The poor ground must be the answer. Thanks Chevgene.
