I was looking through photo albums from the 1980's, and found these pics of the Southern Ontario Region on tour. Sorry the pics are so grainy! The dates and names of the owners are also grainy! If you know any that I miss, chime in!

First pic is a 1934 Roadster, The owners were not members, but toured with us as friends of another couple. The '28 in the back ground is Rick and Marg Laurie's. The meet was during a winery tour in the St. Catherines area.

Second pic was taken at the home of Ron and Judy Writes at the annual yard sale fund raiser. (Not the cars!) From the far left is Don & Gail Dibsdale's '51, Gerry and Barb Boyes' '50 Belair, My parents, George and Eleanor Pearce's '51 and Dave and Linda Porter's '65 Convertible.

Third pic was taken at the Canadian Warplane Heritage. At the left is Hector and Helen Beaudin's '31 5 passenger coupe, then I can't remember the name of the owner of the beautiful '31 5 window coupe, On the right of the photo is the corner of Dave Longmuir's 35 coach.

The last photo was taken in 1987, in St Thomas Ont. at a weekend camping tour. One of the best tours I have been on! We had 15 cars and twenty families and a great weekend! My parent's '50 convertible on it's first tour, then Beaudin's '53 Belair, Boyes' '50, Don and Judy Lampkin's '56, Ron and Judy Wright's '36, and Gary and Bev VanDyken's '55 convertible.

Brewster,

Thanks for sharing the photographs and the commentery. I recognize a few of the names mentioned. Always enjoyed being around the Canadian group but 9/11 seems to have changed things.

That kind of depresses me to hear that 9/11 has changed things for you. Not making the trek north to visit us means you are letting the terrorists win! devil Although things have changed, for us to cross the border requires only a valid passport. I recently aquired Dad's '51, and the first purchase I made for it was to return to the VCCA. My parents joined in 1971, the year before I was born, and Dad was one of the founding members of the S. Ont. Region. Some of the best times I had as a child were being on tour with the VCCA in both our region, and trips to New York state, with the Lake Ontario Region. My first ride in a Chevy convertible was in Sherm Hortons '49. I was 4 at the time. I hope he's still around, because he promised the next time I came he'd put the top down (It rained all weekend!) I also remember the folks from Michigan joining us as well. My goal for the coming summers is to return to a couple of tours south of the border, especially the meet in Flint 2011.

Here's a few more...enjoy!

First two pics are from a tour in the Scarbourogh Bluffs area... The '29 Imperial was owned by Steve Smider. He has since sold it to somewhere in the States. Behind it is Beaudin's '53. The next picture is the same location, Bob and Carol Crocker's '46 GMC pickup and his '50 Fleetline 4dr. The '61 Impala was taken in Komoka Ont. I don't know the owner, they were from a different region. (Michigan?) The final picture is the late Lou Gehrig (No... not the Yankee) and wife Joan's '32 roadster. I heard he had it painted before his passing, and left it with his kids. The pic was taken at the St. Thomas weekend, and I remember the Gehrigs cruising around with the top down all weekend! I remember wanting a pic of it with the top up, and had to get up early before Lou did to catch it this way!

Brewster, glad to hear from you. Just so you know, Don and Judy Lampkin are in possession of Bob's '36 Coupe. Don trailered it home, and being the ambitious one, decided to see if it would start with a little persuading. It ran, Don drove it around the yard a bit (brakes didn't work), but he was very surprised that it ran. The car last drove in 1962. Bob put it away as it was a coupe, and with a second child, they couldn't put the whole family in it. Good to hear from you and we will pass on your name to Joyce. Keep well.
