Most evenings, when weather permits,I take my '32 coupe to the beach at Tarpon Springs Fl (where there is no snow)and watch the sun set in the west. Twice in this past week I've been asked when Chevy started with the overhead valves. I don't claim to be an expert but as far as I'm aware they were always overhead. Did they ever make a flathead???

Also ,I love the music but I can't say I'm crazy about the tune. Keep up the good work.

I think I recall that "Car Crazy" the TV show had that question on the show, and the answer was No Flatheads.

If you think you are gonna waltz in here and tell us you drive from NY to FL to watch the sunset, without some serious explaining, we just ain't gonna buy it.

Ray,
With modern roads, a good running car, and two years to kill do you think it's not possible?

Truth is I brought it down here (via trailer) to enjoy without the New York snow and freezing weather.

The first completed car that was built at the Chevrolet plant in Detroit at 1145 West Grand Blvd was the prototype of the Little 4 model. This would had been in November 9, 1911 and this model had a Flint built Mason L head 4 cylinder engine [a flathead]. The next car to leave this same plant a few weeks later was the big Six cylinder job with a T Type head. This Big Six prototype engine was built by Chevrolet but the 1912-1913 production Sixes were built by the Sterling Motor Co in Detroit. Also the 1913 Little Sixes and the 1914-5 Light Sixes used a Sterling built L head engine. So the first 1912-13 models and al1 1914-15 Six cylinder models for a total of about 4500 cars were flatheads. Mason prototype 4 cylinder OHV engine was shown at the January 1913 NYC Auto Show with the first Royal Mail roadster built in about June 1913 as a 1914 model show car.

Wow- thats a lot to remember. I think the next time somebody asks I'll tell them that Chevy did sell some flatheads in the early teens. I suspect that when they ask they are probably confusing F_ _ _ with Chevys.

Hi Bob,
I'm glad to see you making good use of that Coupe.
You sure got out of here in time. There has been a few nasty ice and snow storms here. Very messy stuff.
My interior kit came in just before the holidays and as soon as all the Christmas stuff gets put away I'll have room to work on it again.
Enjoy the sunshine,

Hi Ray,
For me this is what it is all about. Build them and use them. Only problem is that if I have a major problem all my equipment is up north.
If I can help with the kit just ask.

nice to here from you
Bob

Hey Bob,

I've got my FDNY shirt on tonight. The one my daughter brought back from NYC on her last trip. I thought about you sitting in your car in FL watching the sunset. Sounds pretty good while I'm sitting here in rain for the 29th day in a row!!

Enjoy!!

Bill.

Hey Bill,
I just got back from watching a beautiful the sunset at the beach. As always the car is an attraction and a conversation starter. It's surprising how many motor heads ther are.
It rains down here too......usually for about 15 minutes.
