It went for 28K today on B.J. but is it really 439 miles?

This car has been discussed at length here and on the other Chevy chat site a while back. Its been on Ebay several times at a much higher reserve. At the auction some one had a good chance to inspect it and got it for its true worth. From the Ebay pictures there were several things that made me doubt the low milage. In my opinion the speedometer was set back to zero years ago when it was restored to some extent. It has some wrong year accessories on it plus some reproduced accessories (tail pipe extension for example) which leads me to believe it was restored to some extent. In some areas its not as nice as my original 55,000 mile 1950.
The thing the car had going for it is that it was the club coupe.

I realize the car is 60 years old, but the engine looks more "used" in appearance than a car with 400 miles on it.

I think that a lot of car dudes in the hobby believe that the 439 miles is bogus.

In the specs, the wheel striping is shown as French Ivory, but the car has black striping. The folks that bought the car also bought several other cars in the past 2 days .....must be a fun way to live, that's all I can say.

The car appears to be Mist Green, a very popu;ar 1950 color. The correct wheel stripe color for Mist Green is black.

People will buy cars at that auction and pay through the nose just to say they bought their car at the big BJ.
I pay no attention to that auction because I live in the real world.

Watching the car on TV, And seeing the engine compartment, I would have to say that the car has far more miles on It. With so few miles as they say, That engine and everything around It should look like brand new even being as old as It Is. My two cents worth.
