I recently aquired a 35 master 3 window coupe. It is very rough and I must find many parts. Are the fenders, grille, and hood interchangeable with the 2 and 4 door sedan? Are they interchangeable with any other year? What cars would have the same dash? Is the lower tailsection (below the rumble seat) the same as any other year? Would it be the same as a 35 5 window tail section? Are the doors on a 3 window coupe the same as a 5 window model? I have been searching like crazy and found no parts or parts cars, or anyone with good info on this model. How many of the 3 window master coupes were produced in 35? The guy I bought it from said it was the first year of the turret top, the last year of the rumble seat, and the only year chevy used suicide doors on a coupe. Are these claims true? I know this is alot of questions but any info or leads on parts would be appreciated.

All 1935 master model cars use the same hood, grill and fenders. The rear fenders are the same for 1936 cars. 1935 master is the only model with suicide front doors. 1938 is the last year for a rumble seat coupe.

The dash would be 1935 Master only. The tail section would be the same for 1935 and 1936 Master coupes, 3 and 5 window and the section would also be the same as a 1936 Standard. The doors would fit a 1935 3 window only. There were 11,901 3 window coupes made and 40,201 5 window. There were over 280,000 of the carious sedan mosels produced. The 3 window is desireable due to the rumble seat. And 1935 Master was the only year for the front opening front doors. First year for the steel top along with Pontiac and Oldsmobile. Was the last year for mechanical brakes.

The '35 Masters (not Standards) used a solid steel roof for the first time. Here are some additional significant 'firsts'and 'lasts': First yearfor radiator cap under the hood First year for Vee'd windshield Second year knee-action shock absorbers (optional) Only year suicide doors (all Masters) Last year for mechanical brakes Last year small cooling capacity (11 qts.) ('36 engines were same displacement (207 cu.in.) but had 5 qt. more cooling capacity)

Thank you for the responses. Chev Gene mentioned the tail section is the same. Is it correct that the rear quarter panels would be interchangeable from 35 to 36? The only difference I can see is the 36 Quarter doesn't have the notches for the door hinges. Are the doors the same size and shape? Or more to the point, can I convert a 36 door to suicide hinges and use it on a 35 coupe?

The main difference between the 1935 and 1936 door is the 1936 door is perfectly verticle on the front edge and does not curve forward like a 1935....so the 1936 is not as long in theis area.....not to mention the '36 door is hinged in the front. Also the 3 window foor is a special length for both years. The 1935 cowl is also very different due to the curve in the door.

ok, I guess I struck out on the doors. Do the rear quarters interchange? I want to take a rear quarter from and tail section from a 36 5 window and fit it to a 35 3 window. Would these parts interchange??

As an educated guess I would say the 1936 quarter shold fit BUT it must be from a 1936 Master and NOT a Standard.

Gene, How do I spot the difference between a 36 standard coupe and a master coupe? The 35 is very easy to tell which is which. When I search for pictures of 36 standard coupe, or 36 master coupe, they appear to look the same. Am I missing something??

Te 1936 Standard has two round dials on the dash, the Master has three. The Standard will have leaf springs in the front and the Master the big enclosed coil spring housings (knee-action). The Standard has 5 bolt wheels and the Master six bolt. The Standard has a 109" wheel base and the Master 113".....so the front door is slightly shorter and the quarter panel is shorter in the area between the fender and the door. The actual rear fenders are the same and will fit your 1935 Master and both 1936 models.

You all seem very knowledgable about 35 Master Deluxe cars and some seem to own one or two, why is it I cannot get a response to my post about a gap between rocker panel and base of door? Could really use some insight.
Thank you.

Patience is a virtue. It's difficult to determine the problem from your description, however, there is some adjustment in the door that may help close the gap. At the very bottom of the door skin (near the front) is a hole. Look in the hole and you should see a slotted cap screw that is attached to threaded rod that runs diagonally towards the hinge side jamb. Tighten the screw to draw the lower portion of the door in towards the sill.

I have had alot of luck and accumulated most of the parts needed for my 35 master coupe. Will a 36 hood fit? I know the grilles are very different, but I thought maybe the hood would interchange. If a 36 won't worl then I still need a hood and left front fender if anyone has one. I have also listed an ad in the parts wanted forum.

The hood fits a 1935 Master only....as well as the grille, shell, front fenders and front bumper.
