Haven't seen anything new in my favorite forum so I thought I would post a few words about the upgraded engine going in the '50. It is being rebuilt by a very knowledgeable Chevy guy. The 1954 PG 235 short block is about finished. Hot tanked and bead blasted the block, of course cleaned out water jackets, new cam, main and rod bearings. Were able to use the original aluminum pistons with new Hastings rings, rebuilt oil pump, new clutch and pressure plate and new timing gear. Manifolds are prepped and ready to go aboard when ready. Valve job and head cleanup is next. The engine will be painted Chevy Grey with an oil filter canister and 2-stud valve cover off my 216.
I'm also thinking about picking up a set of Guide fog lights and a push-button radio that are available.
Happy New Year to all!

Dean,
I believe you a making a good choice going with the 54 powerglide engine. I just bought one for my 51 which I will be installing in the spring. My car is being painted this winter and I'm getting excited about getting it back. Where are you located in Mi? I live in the Williamston area?

Hello Williamston,
We are in Warren, near the GM Tech Center.
I was looking for a more highway friendly engine for touring and cruising on the weekends. I will try it out this summer and see if I want to go to the PG rear end (I think 3.70 vs. 4.11) although the 4.11 helps braking. Nice to hear from you. Got pictures?

Dean,
If I Have any pictures I could send them by email as I don't know how to do it on here. I'm currently in Fl. and the car is in Mi getting painted. I installed the pumpkin out of a 54 powerglide in mine a few years ago, I like it a lot better. You can email me at thjnkns@yahoo.com if interested. Donn
