Aynone see any reason against changing out my 140 degree thermostat and putting in a 180, in an attempt to get a little more heat out of the heater?? (1931) I drive this car all winter long if the roads are dry, her and I were out in it yesterday in 20 degree weather and mt tootsies toes were a bit chilly even thought it was comfortable for me.

Do you have any idea at what temperature the car runs at in the summer? I ask because the 140 might indeed be too cold or offering you nothing in the summer. In that case, putting in a 180 and leaving it there might be the best choice.

It's not how fast you can go, but how good you look at 20 MPH.

Hoppy,
If you are running antifreeze at at least 33+% then a 180 deg thermostat will be okay. It should also be okay in the summer but a higher % of antifreeze would provide a little more boiling protection. Actually your engine will put out a bit more power if it runs hotter.
